Cristiano Ronaldo netted on his return to the Juventus team – prompting Piers Morgan to aim a dig at Lionel Messi.
Morgan has been hailing Ronaldo’s efforts since interviewing the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star for ITV earlier this month.
Ronaldo was back for Juventus after missing the win over Brescia with an adductor problem.
The Old Lady were leading Serie A minnows SPAL thanks to Miralem Pjanic’s curled effort on the stroke of half-time before Ronaldo put the contest to bed.
Paulo Dybala stormed down the wing in the 78th minute before whipping a cross into the box for his team-mate to head home.
Morgan took to Twitter as video footage of Ronaldo’s goal emerged on the social media site and used the opportunity to mock the Barcelona star.
“Messi can’t do that…” the Good Morning Britain host wrote on Twitter.
The issue of who is the better player out of Ronaldo and Messi has divided football fans for many years.
And some of Morgan’s followers took offence at his post.
“He’s not gonna s*** you,” wrote one.
“Did it in championship league final,” another pointed out.
“Maybe interview Messi then you might rate him,” a third said.
“He doesn’t need to,” mocked another.
While a fifth said: “Messi can do better things.”
Morgan presented Ronaldo with an Arsenal shirt during his interview.
Ronaldo revealed he came close to a north London move while at Sporting Lisbon at the start of his career.
He said: “I was one step away.”
Morgan tried to convince the Juventus star to make the move – by giving him a shirt.
“This is what might have been,” he said.
