Chelsea made a stunning comeback from 4-1 down to 4-4 draw in a tight match against Ajax at Stamford Bridge.
Tammy Abraham’s own goal gave the visiting Dutch side an early lead. Jorginho levelled the game in a penalty.
Ajax regained control of the game when Promes headed in a brilliant cross from Hakim Ziyech. Kepa Arrizabalaga unwittingly scored with Ziyech’s free kick. Then Van de Beek fired in the fourth goal, putting Ajax on course to victory.
In a stunning twist, Cesar Azpilicueta scored for Chelsea in the 63rd minute. From there, Ajax luck ran out as Daley Blind and Joel Veltman were each given a red card. This was followed by Jorginho’s second accurate penalty in the game.
Reece James scored the fourth goal for Chelsea and the Blues could have won if VAR hadn’t cancelled Azpilicueta’s goal because of Abraham’s handball.
Both sides fought so hard to win but had to settle for 4-4 draw which earned them 7 points each in Group H.
Meanwhile, Valencia also earned 7 points after beating Lille 4-1.
