Lionel Messi scored a late penalty to help Argentina draw 2-2 against Uruguay.

Argentina, who had remained unbeaten since losing out in Copa America in July, had the upper hand during the early first half of the game.

Then Edinson Cavani scored the opening goal for Uruguay at the 34th minute but Sergio Aguero levelled for Argentina.

Messi’s Barcelona teammate, Luis Suarez, scored the second goal for Uruguay to stay in the lead again.

But Messi coolly slotted in a penalty at injury time to give Argentina a draw against Uruguay.

This will be the Argentine star’s second defining goal, having scored the winner against Brazil for his country in Friday after his three months suspension from international matches was lifted.
