The Argentine star superbly assisted Luis Suarez to score the lead goal for Barça in the 29th minute.

Then he did what he does best; scored another goal to double the lead for his club.

Substitute Antoine Griezmann came in to replace fellow Frenchman, Ousmane Dembele who was forced to leave the pitch with a muscle problem, and then tripled the lead from Messi’s pass for Barcelona to book a place in the last 16.

England forward Jadon Sancho scored a consolation goal for Dortmund in the 77th minute.

Messi now beats Cristiano Ronaldo’s Champions League record by scoring against 34 different clubs. Ronaldo has scored against 33 clubs.

Barcelona top Group F with 11 points which qualify them for the last 16. Dortmund have the same 7 points with Inter Milan and are yet to secure a spot in the last 16.
