Tammy Abraham returned from injury to score an opener for Chelsea as the Blues beat Aston Villa 2-1 on Wednesday.

The England forward missed Chelsea’s home defeat to West Ham on Saturday after he sustained a hip injury during Champions League game against Valencia that ended in 2-2 draw.

The 22-year-old scored the lead for Chelsea in the 24th minute but Villa equalised with Trezeguet’s shot in the 41st minute.

The Blues regained the lead when Mason Mount scored in the 48th minute and they continued to dominate possession of the ball with Abraham coming close to score twice and Willian hitting the post with a fine free-kick.

Chelsea is fourth in Premier League and gradually closing the gap with second placed Manchester City.

Villa remain 15th and a point above the relegation zone with just one win this season.
