Manchester City’s hope of winning the second consecutive Premier League title has been significantly cut down as Manchester United beat them 2-1 to edge closer to the top four.

Marcus Rashford, who was brought down by Bernardo Silva in the box, scored a penalty goal to give the Red Devils a lead in the 23rd minute of the match which held on Saturday at Etihad Stadium.

Anthony Martial doubled the lead a few minutes later with a fine finish into the right hand corner.

However, Nicolas Otamendi’s header from Riyad Mahrez’s corner in the 85th minute made it 2-1 and City fought to equalise.

But the visitors held on to their lead and ended up putting City on the losing chance of winning the premier league title this season.

Man Utd is now fifth in the premier league with four points behind fourth placed Chelsea.
