Nigeria’s Kelechi Iheanacho continued his top form as he scored an equalizing goal for Leicester to hold Aston Villa to 1-1 draw in Carabao Cup semi final first leg match on Wednesday at King Power Stadium.
Frederic Guilbert scored for Villa to take the lead at the 28th minute after receiving Anwar El Ghazi’s cross.
The visitors could have double the lead to 2-0 but Ezri Konsa’s header struck the bar.
Leicester tried very hard to score but Aston held stoutly to their defence with keeper Orjan Nyland saving twice from James Maddison and Jamie Vardy.
The Foxes efforts finally paid off when Kelechi Iheanacho, who came in as a substitute, shot powerfully into the opponents’ net from Vardy’s pass in the 74th minute to give his side a well deserved equaliser.
The second leg of the Carabao Cup takes place at Villa Park on Tuesday, 28 January.
