Real Madrid beat Atletico Madrid on 4-0 penalties to win the 2020 Spanish Super Cup on Sunday at the King Abdullah Sport City Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The tough match had initially ended in a goalless draw after 120 minutes after both sides missed chances to score.
Dani Carvajal, Rodrygo and Luka Modric sent Atletico’s keeper Jan Oblak the wrong way while Sergio Ramos scored the final penalty to bring the prestigious cup to Los Blancos.
This is Zindine Zidane’s first Super Cup since returning to Real Madrid as head coach in March 2019 while Real celebrate 11th Super Cup win in total, two fewer than Barcelona’s record of 13.
Next, Real Madrid host Sevilla as La Liga resumes on Saturday while Atletico visit Eibar later that day.
