Nigeria defender Tyronne Ebuehi has informed Portuguese Primera Liga champions Benfica that he wants to leave the club to play for another club on loan.

The 24-year-old is desperate to leave before the end of the winter transfer window as he has been struggling with injuries this season, only featuring in seven games for the Benfica’s U23 side and made four appearances for the Team B.

Ebuehi spent four years at Dutch Eredivisie outfit ADO Den Haag before moving to Benfica on a free transfer in 2018 after signing a five-year contract.

He made 78 league appearances for the club and scored one goal.

Ebuehi was first called on international duty for Nigeria in 2018 but missed the entire campaign due to a ligament injury he sustained during training.

However, he featured in 2018 World Cup in Russia as a substitute where Nigeria beat Iceland 2-0 in the group stage.
