Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has been arrested for allegedly attacking the police following a fight outside a bar on the island of Mykonos.
The world’s most expensive defender had been on holiday on the Greek island with his girlfriend after United’s exit from Europa League where they were beaten 3-0 by Sevilla.
The 27-year-old had gotten into a fight with other British tourists and when the police tried to intervene, Maguire alongside three men fought back verbally and physically.
They were eventually handcuffed and transferred from Mykonos to Syros in a police vehicle on a ship.
Manchester United have released confirming the incident.
“The club is aware of an alleged incident involving Harry Maguire in Mykonos last night.
“Contact has been made with Harry, and he is fully co-operating with the Greek authorities.
“At this time we will be making no further comment.”
Police in Greece are continuing their investigation into the matter.
