The FIFA World ranking for September is out and Nigeria’s Super Eagles rose from 31st to 29th in the world.

In addition, Nigeria also occupy the 3rd position in Africa, behind Tunisia (2nd) and Senegal (1st).

Senegal were defeated in the final of the 2019 African Cup of Nations held in Egypt by Algeria who are occupying fourth on the latest FIFA ranking.

Nigeria on the other hand beat Tunisia to win bronze medal at the 2019 AFCON after losing to Algeria in the semifinal.

Belgium are topping the global FIFA ranking, while world champions France are occupying second position on the table.

Meanwhile, Nigeria continue the quest to qualify for the 2021 African Cup of Nations by facing Sierra Leone in a double header in November.

The qualifier which was supposed to be played five months ago was rescheduled by CAF due to the coronavirus pandemic which halted sporting activities worldwide.
