Super Eagles stars have joined the rest of Nigeria to celebrate the scrapping of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) following the official announcement by the Presidency and later the Inspector General of Police confirming the decision.
Although the squad are in Austria for international duty, most of them have been actively following the trending protests in Nigeria calling for the end of SARS and police brutality.
William Troost-Ekong, Ahmed Musa, Leon Balogun, John Ogu and Shehu Abdulahi spoke out against police brutality via their twitter handles.
The government finally listened and the Presidency tweeted via its official Twitter handle, @NGRPresident: “PRESIDENTIAL DIRECTIVE: The Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigeria Police Force @PoliceNG has been dissolved WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT.
