Napoli forward Victor Osimhen has begun an intensive recovery of his injured shoulder.

Osimhen sustained the injury during Nigeria home game in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sierra Leone last week Friday.

The 21-year-old led the attack and found the back of the net to help the Super Eagles in their four-goal advantage in the first half.

But he couldn’t see out the match and had to be stretchered out and replaced by Genk’s Paul Onuachu.

Osimhen was allowed to return to Napoli following the injury and missed Nigeria’s second meeting with the Leone Stars in Freetown on Tuesday.

He underwent tests on his arrival at Stadio San Paolo to confirm the nature of his injury and has started treatment.

“Victor Osimhen underwent tests in Rome on Wednesday which confirmed that he has suffered a dislocated shoulder,” read a statement from the club website.

“The player has already begun physiotherapy on the injury and will be reassessed on a daily basis.”

It is uncertain if Osimhen will be available for Napoli’s next Serie A game against AC Milan on Sunday.

The Nigerian Star joined the Italian side for a club-record fee of €80 million after his impressive performance at Lille.

Osimhen has scored two goals and made one assist so far for the club.
